My Thought Process...

A few weeks before I head out on a trip, my mind starts going nuts. I start thinking a lot. A LOT!

Good things, bad things, all things.

So I have noticed a pattern with my thoughts....some phases of thought.

First Phase: Adventure. Where am I going? what am I going to see? What crazy things am I going to do. All good things, all fun things, and this trip has been no different. I spend the few quiet evenings I have on the internet researching, and looking up my destinations. Phuket, Phi Phi, Krabi, Samui, Chiang Mai, Plain of Jars, Angkor Wat, Killing Fields, etc. Just amazing places I have to go, and amazing things I have to see. It gets me really excited to be heading out soon.

Second Phase: The differences. This is an interesting line of though. What I mean by the differences is....the small things. Sitting at an internet cafe, and the keyboard being different, or the toilets....I think about things like the bugs...how big are they going to be? How strong of bug spray do I need? I think about the language....Am I going to be able to communicate with people? I think about accomodations...Are they going to be safe? All of this stuff. Eventually, because of all the 'thinking' i do about these small things, it leads me to the third phase...

Third Phase: Worry. I start wondering 'why I am going on this trip?', and 'Should I REALLY be taking this big digital camera with me???'. It really just propogates into a full blown nervousness. it makes my stomach turn, and my palms sweat. It's not a good feeling to have just a few days before leaving.

Here is the neat part...its completely cyclical for me. To get rid of the worry, I just start back at phase 1. It puts a smile on my face, and the worries subside. I am an easy person to please, so all I have to do is start reading about the people in Laos, again.

Anyways, it's a small look into how my head works. Not all is blissful when travelling. Just most of it. :D

So to end off, I want to ask the readers for a little help. write a comment and tell me (from your experience) where we should go, and what we should see to make this trip the best one ever.

One last point: I added a stat counter on Friday, and since then, this page has had 95 unique visitors. That is insane considering I don't even leave for another week and a half. Please keep reading, and please give me some feeback on the content. I like reading the comments as much as I like writting this.

Thanks for the insights into your thought process; I always suspected you were a little crazy.
