I am having a tough time thinking of things to write about while I am still here in Canada, so I thought I would go into a little detail about what the plan is.
We land in Bangkok at 12:30am on April 1st...good time to land. I am sure that getting out VISA's at 1am is just going to be a blast! We have a flight out the next afternoon to head down to Phuket....so our first day in Asia will basically be spent in transit.
Michele and I both have the same thoughts, when it comes to Phuket. It's going to be paradise, and we know that, but we want to try to get out of the city atmosphere, and to the islands as quick as possible, so I think we are going to book it to Koh Phi Phi asap, and just crash there for a couple days...then up to Koh Phangang for April 6th or 7th.
Koh Phangang will be home base for a couple days. Full Moon party is on April 9th, and we fly out of Koh Samui on the 13th, so I think there will be a lot of relaxing, and a few day trips. We want to try snorkling in Koh Tao, and I want to go deep sea fishing. There is a Natl. Park on the mainland where we would like to do a hike...I hope that can be done on a day trip, but not sure...
On the 13th we fly to Chaing Mai, which is in northern thialand. W
e happen to be there during the Thai new year, which is called Songkran....Apparently its a big party, and known as the worlds biggest water fight. Everyone walks around soaking everyone with water.We are also meeting a guy there named Dave that I travelled with years ago in Croatia. I haven't seen him for 4 years, so we have a lot of time to catch up on. My guess is that we can take care of that in 3 days worth of beer.
After that, we really are not sure what we are doing....I think heading back to Bangkok, and into Cambodia, then on to Vietnam, and end the trip off with Laos....
That is 6 weeks worth of travelling, right there....I am starting to think its not going to be enough time. I already feel like I am 'skimming' over the islands, and could spend an entire 6 weeks there.
....maybe I should just move there....
Anyways...I should tell a little bit about Michele, my travel companion. Hmm, what to say about her. We have been friends for about 4 years now, and when this trip came up, she was in like a dirty shirt. She is 24 years old (She'll be 25 by the time we leave), and a paramedic in the beautiful metro area of Innisfail. She is an experienced traveller, having been to Austrailia and Africa in the past. I couldn't have asked for a more laid back, easy going, easy to hang out with person to go travelling with.
She has access to post here, so maybe some day she will drop some wisdom on your asses!
Ok, so only one more week to go. I will try to do another post or 2 before we leave. I am sure this week is just going to DRRRAAAAGGGGG for me!

I thought of another idea. Buy a snokel and mask then you can just dive in whenever you want and when you go on a tour you don't have to use one that a million people have already put their mouth on mmmmmmm.
ReplyDeleteAlso remember you can barder everything down TONS and Ko San Road is more expencive then anywhere else so try not to buy there.

ReplyDeleteOn another note I do find it interesting that you plan to visit Cambodia, which is known as the world capital for child prositution. I'll give you the benefit of doubt and assume your age cutoff is is 14 :-)
Oh you'll smell it...you'll smell it real soon... ;) Definitely go to Koa Tao, an island in the middle of nowhere but it is the best for diving and snorkeling. Best place to detox after the full moon party. As for the full moon...pace yourself and watch the thai red bull intake, that sh*t will kill you...
