...Sharks. Thanks Brock. This was never a worry of mine until your little phobia came to light in Croatia. Him and the movie 'The Beach' gave me the fear that everytime I step into the ocean, a shark is going to bite my leg off. Thanks Brock. Thanks Leo!
...Heat. I have talked to many people that have been to SE Asia, and everyone tells me how dreadfully hot it is there. Awesome (sarcasm). I am really not a 'heat' guy. I am a 20 degree guy. But apparently, its about 40 degrees everyday, and the humitidy is sweltering. So sweltering that you walk outside and immediatly have a good sweat going. So sweltering that I am going to think that I should put deoderant on my balls. I dread the thought of that without an ocean beside me.
...Theft. I am pretty certain that something is going to be stolen on this trip, and what makes it better is that this is the most high-tech trip I have taken. I am taking a netbook with me, along with an awesome camera, and an iPod touch. Something is going to go missing, but its all really ok. Theft isn't bad...everything can be replaced. I am all about safety, and as long as Michele and I are safe, that is all that counts. Just keep your hands off of my fucking stuff!
...Spiders. I don't even know if there are bad ones in Thailand...They just creep me the hell out.
...Earthquakes. aka Tsunami's. This is just from watching too many shitty videos from the 2004 tsunami on Youtube. I'd like to think i am smart enough to RUN if anyhting happens...But really, anyone that knows me knows that I would probably sit on the beach saying 'look! a big wave!'. Ahh, really there is no need to worry about stuff like this, but who knows!
...Coming home. I love travelling so much, that I am already dreading coming home. If I don't come home, please don't be mad, mom and dad. You can come visit me anytime!

Well, we are down to about 36 hrs before I leave. Stuff has been purchased, things are packed,
and I am mentally ready for this. Except the heat. I still hate the heat. goddamit!
Peace

Hey Marty: Not to worry - no big spiders in Thailand. No sharks either. But hot? Yes. Buy some pricky heat powder at any pharmacy - it keeps the heat rash under control. It contains menthol. re: safety - Michele said you are taking the bus from BKK to the Cambodian border crossing at Poipet/Aranyaprathet. This is a pretty lawless area - keep your ipod, camera etc. in your pack in front of you and watch carefully. Theft is very common as the people are very poor.

ReplyDeleteThe count down is on, Marty. Probably won't find many zzz's here tonight. I know I shouldn't worry about my Girl but I will. You both travel safe, have a great time, enjoy your wonderful adventure. Peace and Godspeed! Keep in touch and don't make Momma fret.
